Storing your veil before the wedding:
-We recommend hanging your veil as soon as it arrives. This will help to remove any creases that make have occurred whilst folded in the box.
-Make sure the area around your veil is spotless if it needs to trail on the floor, and safely away from children and pets.
Storing your veil after the wedding:
-We recommend cleaning your veil before storing it.
-The box that your veil arrived in will keep your veil safe, and protect it for years to come. Make sure any tissue paper you use is acid-free, to avoid discolouration. It is vital that the lace veil is kept seperate from other items. Colour dyes found in other items can have an effect on the fabric.
-Store in a cool, dry, safe space, avoiding damp.
Cleaning your veil:
-If you find that your veil has been soiled after the wedding, we recommend taking it to a professional wedding dress cleaning and preservation service provider. Most drycleaners do not offer this specialist service.
-Make sure that your drycleaners do not use harsh chemicals such as Perclorethylene; which can disintegrate and destroy delicate fabrics, embelishments, even melting glass buttons and sequins.
Handwashing your lace veil at home:
-If you have put a comb on the veil, make sure to remove it before washing.
-Lace veils can be washed in a sink or container in lukewarm water. Hot water can shrink the lace. Use a mild handwashing laundry liquid. Dilute the liquid in the water and do not apply directly to the fabric.
-Never use bleach or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the fibres and dramatically shorten the life of the veil.
-Wet lace can be very fragile, therefore avoid vigorous rubbing or swirling as this can tear the lace.
-Allow the lace to soak for a while, then drain the water, rinsing it under running water.
-To dry the veil, lay it flat on a towel, so that it can dry correctly avoiding tears or creases.
-Avoid direct sunlight when drying, ideally dry it in a well-aired room.
-We do not recommend ironing your veil, as it can be easily singed. Avoid wrinkles and creases, simply by hanging your veil before use, a few days in advance.
NB.The above is offered as guidance only and we hold no responsibility should you damage your lace veil following these guidelines. If you are apprehensive about cleaning the veil yourself contact a wedding dress cleaning and preservation service provider.
